Vision Statement
Vision Statement for Shepherd of the Hills
At Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church we envision a church where everyone who walks through the door will know the joy, acceptance, and eternal salvation of Jesus Christ. Our church will be a place where people can grow spiritually through creative and inspiring worship, enjoy teaching for all ages that is biblical and relevant to life, and find supportive fellowship and opportunities for outreach into the community.
We envision an updated facility that accommodates successful ongoing programs for children and youth, and projected programs for young adults and adults. Our facility should include a user-friendly nursery and space for community outreach programs. We envision an architect-designed sanctuary renovation utilizing natural lighting, more flexible seating, and a state-of-the-art audio/visual system capable of supporting a variety of worship and music styles. Planning and fundraising for the sanctuary renovation should begin immediately and the work should be expedited for completion in 2003.
We envision each member of the congregation utilizing their God given spiritual gifts so that they may use those gifts in ministry within and outside of the church. We encourage developing ministry teams composed of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose.
We envision an uplifting, culturally relevant, contemporary worship service for all worshippers whether they are seekers or mature Christians. Our second service on Sunday mornings should be an uplifting traditional service. In addition, to appeal to young adults, a totally contemporary worship service will be explored for a time other than Sunday morning.
We envision the development of a variety of Christian Education programs responding to the needs of all age groups including single and married young adults and older adults that are culturally relevant, spiritually motivating and that will provide opportunities for fellowship. We envision implementing such programs as an opportunity for outreach into the surrounding community.
