Fellowship
Bridge – Duplicate or Marathon

Duplicate meets: Third Sunday, 6:30 p.m.
The
Duplicate Bridge group meets in players’ homes on the third Sunday of each month
at 6:30 p.m. for an evening of fun, fellowship, and refreshments. New
participants are always welcome.
Marathon Bridge is also played on a
prearranged monthly or bimonthly basis. All social bridge players are welcome to
join.
Coffee Fellowship
A team is forming to host our coffee fellowship time in Charter Hall following
worship each Sunday. Please call the church office to volunteer to:
• set up and make coffee
• clean-up
• shop for food
Happy Bookers
Contact: Barbara Slade
Meets: Second Tuesdays, 7:15 p.m.
Happy Bookers meet in a member’s home at 7:15 p.m. the second Monday of the
month from September through May. At each meeting, a member reports on a
specific book, followed by group discussion and refreshments. Happy Bookers is
one of the longest standing small groups at Shepherd of the Hills.
XYZ (Xtra Years
of Zip)

XYZ (Xtra Years
of Zip) gathers on the third Friday of the month, September through May,
for a potluck lunch at noon. You are asked to bring your own tableware and a
dish to share. The program schedule for fall includes:
• Friday, Jan. 18,
Potluck lunch at 12 p.m.. Please bring a food dish to share and your own table
ware. Following lunch, there will be a program on the Galapagos Islands. Seventy
percent of the plants and wildlife on the island are found no where else in the
world. The fauna of the islands were the bases for Charles Darwin’s Origin of
Species.
• Friday, Feb. 15, Potluck lunch at 12 p.m. Please bring a food dish to share
and your own table ware. Following lunch, a program will be given by Karen
McClurg from the Senior Resource Center. The center provides centralized and
coordinated service, information, education and leadership, helping to assist
seniors in maximizing their independence and personal dignity. See

• Friday, March 21, Potluck lunch at 12 p.m. Please bring a food dish to share
and your own table ware. Following lunch,
Bob Kissel will show us slides of his six-week trip to Maine.
• Friday, April 18, Potluck lunch at 12 p.m. Please bring a food dish to share
and your own table ware. Following lunch, we will visit and be given a tour at
the Foothills Art Center in Golden. The Center is housed in two joined National
Historic Register buildings. Admission is $2 for Seniors. See

• Sunday, April 27, Red Rocks Community College theatre production, afternoon
matinee, $9 admission for seniors. The
event is a musical comedy variety show. All attendees will depart from the
church at 1:15 p.m. Reservations required by March 28. Contact Jerry Sherard by

• Friday, May 16, Potluck lunch at 12 p.m. Please bring a food dish to share and
your own table ware. Following lunch, we will visit Long’s Iris Gardens in
Boulder. Founded in 1905, this third generation, family-owned and operated iris
farm is in the middle of Boulder. See www.longsgardens.com.

Fine Arts Exhibit

An exhibit of various art forms produced by our members will be Feb. 17. The
exhibit will take place in Charter Hall following the worship service. If
you are an artist, sculptor, potter or photographer and would like to
participate in this event, please contact Sandi Marr or Betty Graf.
Church and Community Picnic
Contact: Susan Paddock
The Church and Community Picnic is an annual event held at Shepherd of the
Hills for us to meet and share with our neighbors. The picnic will be held
on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the church from 4-6 p.m. Come join us in this
community outreach and revel to the music of the one and only Cross Roads
band while you enjoy a hot dog, chips and a cool drink. We’ll have cotton
candy and snow cones too. The kids will be lining up for temporary tattoos
and for a turn in the bounce castle. Bring your friends and neighbors with
you for a wonderful afternoon of fun and fellowship. Best of all, you can’t
beat the price. It’s free!
