After growing up in Iowa, I jumped at the chance to go to college in the Mountain West. Four years at the University of Montana sealed my appreciation for skiing, hiking, and climbing – and I also squeezed in enough studying to earn a BA in English with a minor Spanish. My faith in Jesus Christ also developed in college which gave me a passion to minister to my fellow students. After graduation, my longtime friend Theresa and I were married and we headed to Boulder, CO for a college ministry position.
Following two years of working with CU students we headed to Winston-Salem, NC where I worked with students at Wake Forest University. During our nine years there we enjoyed connecting with students, learned a lot about community, both earned master’s degrees, and had our two children (Kathleen and Caroline).
After graduating from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary I sought ordination in the PCUSA, and began searching for churches closer to family and the Mountain West. We felt a connection with the Shepherd congregation and in early 2014 we accepted a call to ministry in their neighborhood. We’ve loved living back in Colorado! In our free time we enjoy hosting friends at our house, skiing, hiking, running, and road biking.
