Women’s
Ministries
The Women's Ministry at Shepherd of the Hills is dedicated to providing opportunities for the women of our congregation and community in which to grow stronger in their faith walk with God. We offer several types of Bible studies, and Sunday School classes. Presbyterian Women is a mission and service organization while Sister to Sister is an intentional relationship group.
Presbyterian Women Presbyterian Women (PW) is devoted to mission and service, and is one of the oldest active groups within Shepherd of the Hills. If you are an adult female member of this congregation, you are considered to be a member of Presbyterian Women. PW is totally self-supporting. It gets its funds from the annual fall craft sale and special donations throughout the year. This group also has an annual spring luncheon. PW ladies are but a phone call away. Whenever there is a memorial service, a wedding, or a catered meal, phone calls go out. Cookie and sandwich ladies appear and the kitchen helpers work, cook, serve, and clean up. Groups and organizations and projects supported during 2006-2007 included: Seniors’ Resource Center, Jeffco Action Center , JAC Santa Shop and Emergency Services, Gemini House, Helping Hearts and Hands, The Gathering Place, and Bridgeway. Also, the Youth Mission Trip, Moccasin Walk, Adopt-A-Family, the Care Center, Handbell Choir, Adult Library, Presbyterian Women of the Denver Presbytery, Church Women United, and Denver Inner City Parish camp scholarships. The elected officers are Elaine Wendler, moderator; Ilene Wagner, secretary; and Robbie VanDyke, treasurer. A core group meets monthly at 9 a.m. in the Library on the first Tuesday.
Sister to Sister In addition Sister to Sister provides two social events a year and occasionally smaller get-togethers. Together we support a yearly women's retreat and a large group from our congregation attend the Women of Faith conference in the fall.
