Patricia Ann Owen
June 26, 1947 – May 2, 2024
Patricia “Patti” Ann Christensen Owen was born on June 26, 1947, in Minden, Nebraska to Rodney V. Christensen and Margaret Bang Christensen. They lived in rural Kearney County outside Minden on the family farm until Patti was in high school when they moved to Minden. Patti’s school days were spent in Minden with graduation from Minden High School in 1965. Pat attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln where she met Sam who was attending the University of Nebraska School of Law. Pat and Sam were married in Minden on June 27, 1970, and soon thereafter moved to Colorado where they made Golden their home for 54 years.
After retiring from Ball Corporation, Pat raised her family in Golden where she lived the remainder of her life. When her kids were in school, she joined Sam’s law firm where she worked as the office manager for 36 years.
Soon after their move to Colorado, she and Sam joined Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the music program. For the past 30 years, she was an active member in Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon for 15 years. Pat touched numerous lives at Shepherd of the Hills as a Deacon and through her love and talent as a drummer. Drumming in the praise band and the worship band were two of her true loves.
Pat also loved her bridge club, book club, Bible study group, playing the piano, skiing, hiking, and gardening. She and Sam especially enjoyed the mountains, long drives, and stays in Telluride, Utah, Vail and especially Keystone. She loved long walks and did so daily year-round. Pat and Sam especially enjoyed their time with their family at their homes in Keystone and Kauai.
Those left to cherish Pat’s memory include her husband of 54 years, Sam, daughter, Megan Reyes, son-in-law Mario Reyes, daughter, Katie Sisneros, son-in-law Mario Sisneros and four grandchildren: Tyler Reyes, Maggie Sisneros, Kate Reyes, and Sam Sisneros. She is also survived by her sister Susan Anderson (Gene) of Springdale, Arkansas and brother, Dr. James Christensen (Robbie) of Pasadena, Maryland. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Rodney Christensen.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 2 pm at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, Colorado. Donations can be made to the music scholarship established in Pat’s name in care of her home in Golden.
