Worship and Music

Worship begins Sundays at 9:30am

Our Philosophy...

Everyone is invited to worship at SOTH! We believe that it is good, right, and fitting to worship our Creator and Redeemer, and that the ritual of worship is especially rich in community. The worship service is a sacred space where we pray together, sing together, and listen to God’s word together.

At SOTH, we recognize that the praise of God has occurred since the beginning of time, is alive and vibrant today, and will continue through all eternity. We recognize that praise runs through all of the created universe, and we are invited to join in! To that end, our worship service is a place for everyone to participate through readings and various artistic expressions.

You are invited to come as you are! Some regular attenders prefer to look a little more formal, while others are content to come in jeans and t-shirt. The choice is yours!

Music

There are lots of ways to make a beautiful sound at Shepherd of the Hills. Our adult handbell choir meets on Wednesdays at 6:15pm, followed by Chancel Choir at 7:15pm. We also have a small, chamber choir for women, called "Jubilation Singers," plus weekly opportunities to play in the worship band, and special Sundays that include various instruments. So whether you sing, ring, play violin, flute, bass guitar, or just want to learn how to do one of those things, there is a place for you.

Other ways to serve artistically include liturgical readings and poetry, dance, theatre, audio/visual crew, plus perhaps something we haven't thought of yet. If you'd like more information, contact Jill at jdorn@soth.ne

Outdoor Worship

During the summer months we take advantage of our SOTH Field and move worship outdoors. With a natural amphitheater and ample grassy space for seating and events, it's the perfect setting for outdoor worship. We recommend dressing comfortably for the weather and bringing your own chairs. Some families like to bring picnic blankets and umbrellas as well. If you don't have an outdoor chair to bring, don't worry! There will be chairs available as well as shade tents. For those with accessibility needs, there are tables with umbrellas close to the parking lot.

Each outdoor service has a special theme and will provide opportunities to experience worship in different ways. Services to look forward to include Blessing of the Garden, picnics with lawn games, Blessing of the Backpacks, and Blessing of the Animals!

Families are invited to worship together with their children during these services; nursery care will be available in the church building for our smallest attendees.
