Friends,

Thomas Edison is quoted as saying “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”

It's easy to think about the upcoming autumn season as the sun starts to fade,  there's one holiday that can't be overlooked before we jump into the seasons of scarecrows, pumpkin carving and fall décor, and that is Labor Day - a  federal holiday celebrated on the first Monday of September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements in the United States. If you're a fan of the five-day work week, weekends off and the eight-hour standard workday, you've got union organizers to thank for that, and that's what Labor Day honors. So, this coming Monday, Labor Day, give thanks for all those folks in overalls and the opportunities they bring us.

Pastor Heather
